It’s almost the season. Christmas photos are almost upon us, which leads to the dreaded tasks: finding a photographer, color coordinating the outfits, and uncovering a location that you haven’t used before.
Do not fear!! Your photographer is here to help! With a few tricks and tips, you can let the stress of the photos melt away and focus on other things instead, like family & friends & FOOD.
So, lets go:
Find the photographer FIRST! Explain your vision. Tell them everything, with photo examples if you have them! Make a Pinterest board. If you can tell us about your vision, we can start to put everything into action and take the pressure off of you!
Color coordinating. It may not be all that it seems. Your photographer probably has a fantastic eye, and you have lots of great ideas! Collaborate with him/her to come up with the perfect look.
Location. Ask your photographer where they’ve shot before! If they know of an off-the-beaten-path, Aspen tree forest *hint, hint*, let them lead you to it! If you have a better idea, share the new place with your photographer and let them guide you to the best views of the place.
Trust your photog. They know what they’re doing! If you choose someone that values your input and has lots of experience, family photos can be a walk in the the park.
Try not to stress about the little ones. Babies and toddlers are some of the best models I know! There is absolutely no shame in a tired baby letting off some steam, and we are well-accustomed to making the best of the situation. We just need the rest of the family to stay relaxed and happy as can be!
Family photos have the expectation of being stressful, rushed, and absolutely no fun. The thing is, they don’t have to be that way!
Let your photographer take the stress off your shoulders and enjoy the day. Make a fun day out of it! There are only so many days until your little ones will be headed off to college! Treasure the time you have with them now and make sure you get tons of photos in the meantime!
